Ultra Postponed: How To Get Your Money Back

So now that the festival in Miami has been officially "postponed" what does that mean for your $500+ ticket? Not to mention your hotel and your flight!

Ultra has had a rough break these past couple years and they have been notorious for poor customer service. So now that the festival in Miami has been officially postponed until 2021, what does that mean for your $500+ ticket? Not to mention your hotel and your flight!

Ultra Music Festival Legal Policy

On their website, Ultra clearly states that under no circumstance, including cancellation for any reason, are they obligated to refund your ticket. That includes natural disasters. See policy below:

Upon Event cancellation by Event Organizer, Event Organizer may, in its sole and absolute discretion, elect to either issue a full or partial refund to Purchaser, not issue any refunds, or reschedule the Event. Upon the cancellation of the entire Event, including, but not limited to events not within Event Organizer’s control, governmental acts, acts of God, riots, production delays, strikes, natural disasters, inclement weather (regardless of severity), or inaccessibility or unavailability of the Venue, Event Organizer may, in its sole and absolute discretion elect to either, (a) issue Purchaser a full or partial refund, (b) postpone the Event for a future date and/or (c) offer Purchaser a comparable “make good.”

What Now?

Wait until Monday to see what they decide to do, but expect the worst. We will continue to update our blog with ways to get your money back including groups dedicated to crowdsourcing these efforts.

How To Get A Refund If They Decide Not To Give Them

Festivals rely on the loyalty of their patrons. In the event that they decide not to refund your ticket, here is our suggested course of action. Take to social media. You will not win a legal battle with them by filing a credit card dispute. Your best option is to create a PR storm urging them to comply.

However, your best option is always going to be contacting them directly via email or social media pleading your case for a refund. The people that organize the festival are human too and are probably suffering at least as much as you are in the wake of this circumstance. Be kind and courteous. However, we do not think it is right for them to withhold refunds to patrons that have likely been saving up for the ticket all year.

If You Purchased Someone’s Ticket

In this scenario you might be really out of luck unless that person is a friend or a great human being. Festivals will only refund the original purchaser.

Good luck everybody! Will respond to Comments below!
